Thanks for joining me each month for Another Girl’s Treasure! Last month I shared this beauty…
Black Beauty, we’ll call her 🙂
Ok, so there’s really nothing beautiful about it except I could tell that the table had a great shape under all that shiny black paint!
This wasn’t the type of piece that I could just cover up with chalk paint. I knew it was going to have to be prepped.
Some of the paint was already chipping off and my sweet husband sanded the rest for me 🙂
It was white underneath (which is what I wanted) but I gave it a fresh coat with latex paint. I painted this for my youngest daughter’s room and the matte look of chalk paint just wasn’t going to work.
It’s supposed to be her bedside table but she decided to rearrange and now she doesn’t have room for it beside the bed. I’m not thrilled with the new arrangement of her room but I’m trying to let my kids make these decisions for themselves. I mean, after all, I do get the rest of the house. Plus, I really like that they take an interest in decorating!
Now it just sits in a corner in front of the mural my husband painted when we first moved in (the wall where the bed is supposed to be 🙂 ). I’ll be so sad when she starts asking to repaint her room.
And of course it’s not complete without a little mod podge…
I lined the inside of the drawers with this pretty wrapping paper. I just thought the colors were so bright and perfect for her room!
I think it’s a far cry from the thrift store “Black Beauty”!
Now, here’s a sneak peak of what I’m working on for April. It’s actually not furniture this time, but it’s still a great thrift store find! Come back next month to see what I did with these frames!!
