If you spend a lot of time in Target you may have seen this cute kitchen towel. I just loved the colors, so I grabbed it up. Of course, it wasn’t a kitchen towel to me.
What I saw was an awesome piece of fabric!
Ok, so I like repurposing hand towels…but it’s not a pillow this time. 🙂
Instead, I immediately thought of wall art for the kitchen. So, I purchased 2 canvases (this could also be done with wood or even cardboard if you are looking for a really inexpensive option).
This is what the towel looks like opened up all the way. It’s really large!!
I cut the fabric to the size I needed for my canvas and ironed it to get it as smooth as possible.
Next, I lined up the fabric onto the canvas exactly where I wanted it.
I folded over one side of the fabric, and put a light layer of Mod Podge on the canvas. Spray adhesive would probably have worked, but I always have mod podge on hand.
Then I repeated with the other side. I did the same on the ends and just folded in the corners first (kind of like wrapping a present). If you look closely, it’s certainly not perfect. The goal is not to stress over it…it’s supposed to be easy and fun! 🙂
I found the perfect spot in the kitchen for my new wall art!
*Please excuse the brown walls. It was a phase I was going through when we first moved in almost 5 years ago. I finally convinced my husband that it’s time to paint again. I’m thinking something light and airy…what do you think?
There are so many cute kitchen towels at Target if you want to make your own wall art! I also really like this farm animal towel.
