I have been walking past this table in my house for years now. I think I liked it for the first few years (or more than likely we bought it because it was a good price…that was kind of the main criteria for decor purchases when we first married 🙂
Then after a while I just sort of stopped noticing it. Sometimes I wish I could have fresh eyes and see my house for the first time, because let’s be honest, this table’s kind of ugly!
Excuse the dust- like I said, I kind of stopped noticing it.
I have painted many pieces in my house (it’s like getting a new piece of furniture) and this table was begging for a makeover!
I painted it with Americana Decor Chalky Finish Paint in Yesteryear (it’s a pretty bluish gray color), and used dark wax to give it an aged look.
I wanted a little something extra for the cabinet doors and drawer…
Scrapbook paper! I’m a bit of a
hoarder collector of scrapbook paper, so I had some that was perfect for this project. I traced the areas I planned to cover onto tracing paper and used this to make a template on my scrapbook paper. I glued the paper to the table with Mod Podge.
Oh, and I added some to the inside too!
Finally, some pretty knobs and pulls and I have a “new” table!
I love a good before & after!
Have you ever decoupaged furniture? You could also use wrapping paper or tissue paper or even fabric. So many possibilities!
